Silver Lake Neighborhood Guide

Silver Lake is where creators, families, and communities meet.

Part of our Los Angeles Neighborhood Guides series, this article is written with the present day in mind: We know that some readers may be more comfortable with different types of activities than others, but we also know that all Los Angelenos feel passionate about supporting local businesses to help protect our scene and ensure we all make it to the other side of this together.

So whether you live in Silver Lake or just want some tips on how to explore and support one of LA's iconic neighborhoods, you’ll find recommendations below on everything from socially distanced outdoor activities to dine-in info to delivery options and beyond!

Things To Do

Silver Lake Reservoir + Park
1854 To 2246 Silver Lake Blvd

Silver Lake boasts one of the most beautiful areas in Los Angeles that’s perfect for your daily runs, picnics, or just hanging out. The massive park begins at Silver Lake Blvd and Van Pelt, and stretches nearly all the way down to Glendale Blvd. We recommend going for a daily jog on the path that surrounds the reservoir.

Silver Lake Dog Park
1850 W Silver Lake Dr

Known as one of the most popular dog parks in LA, this 1.25-acre park is a hit amongst Silver Lake locals and their pups alike.

Silver Lake Farmers’ Market
3700 Sunset Blvd

Every Tuesday and Saturday, Eastside locals enjoy fresh produce right off of Sunset Junction. Grab a cup of coffee at the Australian-inspired Roo Coffee and stroll on over to the Silverlake Farmers' Market. Once you see that iconic green pavement, you'll know you're close!

Explore the Painted Stairways
Micheltorena Staircase @ 3400 Sunset Blvd
Swan Stairway @ 2958 Swan Place
Piano Staircase @ 3229 Sunset Blvd

Silver Lake is arguably one of the most artistic neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Take a stroll through the windy streets and you'll find yourself at the bottom of the Piano stairs, Micheltorena staircase and Swan stairway. Snap a quick shot for your Instagram or use them for a workout.

Food

El Cochinito
3508 W Sunset Blvd

Known for their authentic Cuban food, El Cochinito is a hidden gem of Silver Lake. It’s been around since 1988, and they’re still serving up the best Cuban pork sandwich you’ll find in LA. Recently, El Cochinito, which means “little pig,” has been adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic by hosting outdoor dining which you can reserve in advance. Enjoy warm nights under the stars, safely, at this authentic Cuban restaurant with roots tracing back to Havana in the 50s.

All Day Baby
3200 Sunset Blvd

We’re always fans of a classic diner vibe, and that’s what All Day Baby’s been giving us, with a special touch, since late 2019. All Day Baby was founded by the owners of Here’s Looking At You (which sadly closed in July 2020), but they’ve figured out a way to make things work during the pandemic at their newer spot, ADB—so let’s support them in every way we can!

All Day Baby has gone from their traditional dine-in format to an outdoor patio serving up delicious cocktails and their smokehouse-inspired food. They’ve also got a handy takeout walk-up window where you can pick up their to-die-for desserts and boozy milkshakes (and more!) to go.

Tacos Delta
3806 Sunset Blvd

Known for their all-star chilaquiles, Tacos Delta has been a walk-up neighborhood favorite for nearly 40 years. Tacos Delta is still serving their fan-favorites during the pandemic, available via online ordering, or you can order and enjoy your meal with limited outdoor seating on their back patio. Tacos Delta is one of the businesses that represent exactly what these neighborhood guides are about. We hope to see you on their patio enjoying some damn good Mexican food after this pandemic, too!

Pine and Crane
1521 Griffith Park Blvd

The vibe from the moment you walk up to Pine and Crane just hits different. The simple, welcoming atmosphere is enough to draw you in and their delicious Taiwanese foods and bubble tea make you never want to leave. The service you get here whether it's takeout only or an outdoor dining experience is second to none. The atmosphere makes you want to come back on a weekly basis, which admittedly, we are guilty of doing.

Night + Market Song
3322 Sunset Blvd

Night + Market Song is hands down some of the most authentic and best Thai food you can get in the area. Pre-COVID era, walk inside this small gem and it is like eating in your grandma's kitchen, only better because they have a full-on wine bar. Order anything on the menu and be treated to an explosion of flavor. Currently, they are only operating for takeout but trust us, it's completely worth it.

Silverlake Ramen
2927 W. Sunset Blvd.

Sure, the line is massive, but stay strong because it's entirely worth it. For a late-night out or an early morning hangover, order the Spicy Tonkatsu ramen and crispy rice and you'll quickly realize why this is one of the go-to spots in the area. Order your bowl to-go now and enjoy on your couch to get the full ramen effect.

Drinks

Bar Restaurant
4326 W Sunset Blvd

Silver Lake's Bar Restaurant has an impressive menu of food available for pickup or delivery. Along with their eats, we've also been loving their wine offerings, also available for pickup and delivery. Choose from a large selection of orange, red, white, and rose wines, and if you're not an alcohol drinker, Bar Restaurant also carries a brand new non-alcoholic aperitif, Ghia, you should add to your rotation when you get the chance. They are open now for 7 days a week with a full patio so get to sippin'!

Vinovore

Vinovore
616 N Hoover

We're big fans of Vinovore in Silver Lake because their shop puts the focus on female winemakers! Vinovore has an extensive color-coded system for their wines, which you can learn more about here. Select wine based on your Vinovore profile, or let the folks at the shop surprise you. Local delivery is available for specific zip codes, or swing by for contactless delivery.
